IOT Cybersecurity
Dellfer Zero Day Guard
Incident reporting and remediation for connected devices in the automotive Internet of Things.

Problem Context
Turn raw security events into a prioritization tool.
The existing proof-of-concept dashboard had a flat visual hierarchy and did not clearly communicate attack surface exposure.
Business need
Differentiate the product, strengthen its visual identity, and tailor the interface to the people responsible for monitoring and investigation.
Design need
Present risk and incidents in a more actionable format so users could understand what changed and where to investigate first.

Business goals linked differentiation, persona focus, risk communication and visual refresh.
The product was a proof of concept without real-world data, and the engagement was design-only with limited engineering involvement beyond handoff.
Users
One dashboard, two different questions.
Four employee interviews informed CISO and SOC analyst personas.
CISO
Needs charts that summarize system state and communicate organizational risk to others.
SOC Analyst
Needs reliable incident detail and multiple ways to investigate a breach without being overwhelmed.

Persona needs became a practical test for every dashboard concept.
Exploration
Explore the information hierarchy before polishing the UI.
Whiteboard concepts tested application, device, and performance-focused views before converging on a combined dashboard.

The combination layout brought risk, incident volume, device health, and application context into one view.

Wireframes captured feedback from sketching and clarified the dashboards main content groups.
Design System & Prototype
A calmer dashboard with a clearer first read.
The final direction emphasized exposure, trend, and category breakdowns while refreshing the product's visual identity.

Before and after: the redesign reduces visual noise and establishes a clearer hierarchy.

Typography color, components, and accessibility considerations were documented for handoff.

The final dashboard prototype gives risk and incident signals stronger priority.
Outcome note: The engagement concluded with a mockup prototype and design handoff.
